Eden Gardens Bottomless Mimosas High Tea Review

Sunday, 21 January 2024

I had been eager to organise a high tea for my small group at Eden Gardens for quite some time. Unfortunately, Eden Gardens has a minimum requirement of 10 people to host a high tea. At the time of writing this blog, that was the case. You might want to give them a call to check if their guidelines have changed.

In January, Michelle spotted a promotion on Instagram: Eden Gardens was offering a bottomless high tea. She forwarded it to me immediately, and we quickly decided to book a table. Our WhatsApp group is all about high tea, cocktails, and bubbly, so a bottomless high tea was impossible to resist.

Despite the sweltering heat on the day, which made us quite uncomfortable due to the open-air nature of the restaurant (no air conditioning), we managed to have a pleasant time.

Upon arrival, we were offered a choice of tea or coffee, which was not unlimited. Only the mimosas were bottomless. We informed the waitress that two of us had issues with citrus mix. I was on medication for a gastric issue, and Kat cannot tolerate citrus drinks too much. They were accommodating and adjusted the mix to have less orange juice and more sparkling wine.

The High Tea

The high tea itself was delightful. There was an abundance of food, more than we could finish, especially the sweets.

Savoury items included:

  • Sliders with brie and prosciutto
  • Smashed avocado crostini
  • Smoked salmon sandwiches

While the sandwiches were a bit dry, likely not prepared fresh, they were still quite tasty.

Desserts featured:

  • An assortment of French macarons
  • Various other sweet treats

The jam came in individual jars, paired with lovely brown scones. We adored the scones and the added touch of edible rose petals on the cream.

Pros and Cons

Cons:

  • The venue is not air-conditioned, and the fans did little to alleviate the heat. The cream melted quickly, adding to our discomfort.
  • High tea has a minimum requirement of 10 people, making it difficult for smaller groups unless there’s a special promotion.

Pros:

  • The beautiful garden provides a perfect setting for a stroll after your tea, especially when it’s not too hot. The peaceful waterfall, water dragons, and stunning sculptures add to the tranquil ambiance. As a meditation and yoga teacher, I particularly appreciated the serene environment.

Eden Gardens is open every day, welcoming everyone to walk in, grab a coffee, and enjoy a stroll through the gardens. The setting truly offers a calm retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Overall Rating: 5/10
