A Luxurious Mother’s Day High Tea at The Fullerton Hotel

12 May 2024

Mother’s Day was an absolute treat this year, as my family surprised me with a high tea at The Fullerton Hotel. This exquisite experience was everything I could have wished for and more.

Upon our arrival, we were shown to a cozy corner with the famously comfortable chairs that Fullerton is known for. This being my fourth high tea at Fullerton, I can confidently say that comfort and elegance are constants here. Fullerton rarely disappoints, and this visit was no exception.

We were greeted with a lovely glass of bubbly and the choice of tea or coffee. It was a perfect start to what promised to be a delightful afternoon.

The pastries had undergone a transformation since my last visit. This time, they were a bit more elaborate than my simple taste prefers. There were pastries in the form of tacos, buns, and even one savoury wrapped in what looked like a waffle pastry. Despite the over-the-top presentation, the sparkling wine was luxurious and delicious, adding a touch of sophistication to the experience.

While we absolutely loved the scones, the pastries didn’t quite hit the mark for us. However, I appreciate the effort to create a lavish afternoon tea for mums, and credit is due for their creativity and ambition.

The real charm of this high tea experience, however, isn’t just the food. It’s the ambiance of The Fullerton Hotel. I’ve never been drawn here solely for the food; it’s the place itself that holds a special allure. The Fullerton feels like a luxurious home, perfect for a leisurely afternoon. The interior is bathed in natural light, warm and inviting.

This historic building, formerly the General Post Office on Pitt Street near Martin Place, has been transformed into a beautiful hotel where relaxation is inevitable. Once you sink into the plush couches, you feel a sense of peace and contentment that makes you never want to leave.

Even after the high tea, the experience continues. You can linger for a drink or a cocktail from their bar, extending the enjoyment in this splendid setting.

For those considering a visit, I highly recommend it. You can find more details on their afternoon tea offerings here.
