Enchanting High Tea Experience at Kirkton Park Hotel in Hunter Valley

A Special High tea on 21 January 2023

Every year, we go for a holiday getaway to the Hunter Valley with mine and Kat’s family. Beyond our usual wine tours, one memorable year, we decided to indulge in a spot of high tea. After some online searching, Kat discovered the charming Kirkton Park Hotel. We promptly booked our high tea experience for a glorious sunny Saturday.

Located amidst picturesque surroundings, Kirkton Hotel greeted us with a majestic entrance that led to a restaurant with expansive windows overlooking a stunning garden adorned with a fountain. It was enchanting from the moment we arrived. Eager to capture the moment, we ventured outside to snap some photos while we awaited our delectable spread.

One of the perks of such places is not just the bubbly atmosphere but also the option to sip on cocktails. As we settled in, we found our table adorned with beautiful flowers, instantly invoking a sense of royal treatment.

The menu impressed with its array of teas and a tantalizing selection of hot savoury dishes like Arancini, sausage rolls, and various pates, sliders, and sandwiches—perfect for us lovers of hot food. The sweets were equally delightful, featuring delicious petits fours, macarons, and the essential scones.

To complement the ambiance, we opted for colourful drinks—pink bubbly, watermelon and chilli Margaritas—that added a festive touch to our afternoon.

What truly set Kirkton Hotel apart was its expansive grounds. Post-tea, we were encouraged to wander the gardens, which were adorned with beautiful roses and accented by the soothing sounds of the fountain. It was an idyllic setting, ideal for capturing memorable photographs.

We couldn’t resist exploring further—a stroll revealed wide open spaces straight out of a storybook, complete with swings, friendly farm animals, and lush green trees. We could have roamed for hours, so captivating was the beauty that surrounded us.

As if the day couldn’t get any better, we were invited to partake in a wine tasting session outdoors—a perfect finale to our delightful high tea experience.
