In October 2025, we had the pleasure of spending a rainy Melbourne afternoon indulging in the Spring Afternoon Tea at The Langham’s Aria Bar & Lounge—an experience that effortlessly blends luxury, flavour, and timeless charm.

The moment you step inside The Langham, you’re greeted by the signature water fountain and glittering chandeliers that set an opulent tone. While the escalators flanking the fountain slightly interrupt the scene, the beautifully curated décor throughout the hotel quickly restores the magic. Plush lounges and elegant corners make it an Instagram lover’s dream, offering countless opportunities for beautifully composed photos.

Impeccable Service & Sparkling Starts
From the very beginning, the service is warm, polished, and attentive—everything you hope for in a high tea experience. We chose to elevate our afternoon by pairing it with the Kylie Minogue Sparkling Rosé, a crisp and refreshing choice that complemented the menu beautifully. It wasn’t long before our tiered stand of delicacies arrived.

Savouries That Delight
The savoury selection was both generous and beautifully crafted. Highlights included:
- Chicken Sandwich with celery, chives, and lemon thyme on spinach bread — delicately soft and packed with flavour; it truly melted in the mouth.
- Asian Coriander, Lime & Tuna Sandwich
- Grapefruit & Cucumber Sandwich on tomato bread — a refreshing and vibrant bite.

A standout aspect of Aria’s afternoon tea is the inclusion of warm savouries, adding a satisfying heartiness to the experience. On this visit, we enjoyed:
- Cumberland Sausage Arancini
- Grilled Haloumi & Truffle Roulade

Each offered a comforting richness and beautifully balanced flavours—an absolute treat for the palate.
Scones, Sweets & Stunning Details
No high tea is complete without scones, and Aria serves theirs warm, nestled in a crisp serviette. Accompanied by strawberry preserve and double cream, they were perfectly soft with a delightful crumb.

Dessert was a decadent parade of seasonal flavours and refined craftsmanship:
- Strawberry & Lime Turret
- Apricot & Peach Delice Tart
- Rose & Lychee Dome
- Amarascata Cherry

Each sweet showcased the pastry team’s creativity and their commitment to presenting both beauty and balance on the plate.
We must mention the crockery—always a detail we pay attention to. This set was charming and elegant, with the petite sugar cubes in a delicate sugar pot adding an extra touch of ceremony to the tea service.

Pricing & Final Thoughts
The Spring Afternoon Tea is priced at $99 on weekdays and $125 on weekends, including a glass of Taittinger Cuvée Prestige or Kylie Minogue Sparkling Rosé. Given the quality, generous portions, and impeccable service, it offers excellent value for a luxurious Melbourne outing.
On a cool, rainy afternoon, there is truly no better place to unwind than The Aria Bar at The Langham. With its warm ambience, refined flavours, and graceful service, it continues to be a standout in Melbourne’s high tea scene.
