This festive season, we chose Park Hyatt Sydney for our Christmas High Tea experience. After spotting their beautifully styled Christmas-themed cakes on Instagram, our curiosity was well and truly piqued—and we were delighted we decided to indulge.
High Tea is served in The Dining Room, where we opted for the High Tea with a Glass of NV Taittinger “Cuvée Prestige.” Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a window seat overlooking the Sydney Opera House. The view was simply breathtaking. Sipping sparkling wine while watching the boats glide past the harbour on a relaxed Sunday afternoon just days before Christmas, in the company of good friends, felt wonderfully festive.

Shortly after being seated, our glasses of Taittinger arrived, followed by vanilla scones and slices of traditional stollen bread. The scones were served with house-made jam and whipped mascarpone cream—and they did not disappoint. Crumbly, light, and full of flavour, they were among the best we’ve had. The stollen bread was soft, warm, and comforting, with flavours that perfectly captured the spirit of Christmas morning.

The savoury selection featured a thoughtful balance of cold sandwiches and warm dishes. Everything tasted fresh and beautifully prepared, with the turkey pie standing out—warm, rich, and melting in the mouth.
The savoury offerings included:

- Roasted turkey and cranberry sandwich
- Honey-glazed ham and tomato sandwich
- Smoked salmon and cucumber sandwich with crème fraîche
- Turkey pie with bacon and leek
The sweet selection was delicate and delightfully festive. Highlights included a miniature gingerbread man perched atop a chocolate mini bûche de Noël, a perfectly balanced rice and mango pudding, a charming Santa hat-shaped petit four topped with coconut, and a smooth chocolate hazelnut shaped in a Christmas bauble that was as beautiful as it was delicious.

Our maître d’hôtel was attentive and helpful throughout the experience, delivering impeccable service. While this High Tea may be less opulent than some others, the portions were perfectly balanced and left us comfortably satisfied. Presentation was elegant, glassware impeccably polished, and each dish—from scones to sweets—felt refined and indulgent. Tea and coffee were served to conclude what truly was a perfect afternoon.
One small note to keep in mind: the still water served is filtered water and is charged at $6 per person, though guests may opt not to order it.
